Why visit

Royal palaces and the Egyptian Museum. Discover Piedmont

Elegant and surprising

Turin was the first capital of united Italy and the seat of the Savoy dynasty, and it still has the air of a royal city: long arcades, Baroque squares, historic cafés and views of the Alps at the end of its straight avenues.

What to see

The Egyptian Museum is the most important outside Cairo. The Mole Antonelliana, symbol of the city, houses the National Cinema Museum and a panoramic lift. Piazza Castello and Piazza San Carlo, the Royal Palace and the Royal Museums, Palazzo Madama and the cathedral, where the Holy Shroud is kept, form the historic heart. Along the Po river lie the Valentino Park and the medieval village, and outside the city stands the Venaria Reale, one of the Savoy residences listed by UNESCO.

Food

Turin invented gianduiotto chocolate and the bicerin, a hot drink of coffee, chocolate and cream. At the table: vitello tonnato, agnolotti, bagna càuda and the red wines of the Langhe.

Around Turin

The Langhe hills with Alba and Barolo, the Basilica of Superga, the Sacra di San Michele and the ski resorts of the Olympic valleys. Turin Caselle airport and high-speed trains to Milan and Rome.
