The medieval centre still has many of its noble towers, such as the Torre Troyana and the Torre Comentina. The Gothic cathedral, the collegiate church of San Secondo and the crypt and museum of Sant'Anastasio are the main monuments. In September the Palio di Asti, Italy's oldest recorded horse race, fills Piazza Alfieri with flags and costumes, and the Douja d'Or festival celebrates local wine.
