Skiing with a view of the Brenta
Rising to 2,125 metres above the plateau of Andalo and Fai della Paganella, north of Trento, the Paganella is a mountain known for one of the most spectacular panoramas in the Alps: from its summit, the view sweeps over the Brenta Dolomites, which seem close enough to touch, the glaciers of the Adamello and Presanella, Lake Molveno below and, on clear days, the shining surface of Lake Garda to the south and the peaks of the eastern Dolomites. The mountain overlooks the Adige valley with a sheer wall of over 1,800 metres, and in the past it was a natural observatory and a place of legends.
In winter, the Paganella ski area, with about 50 kilometres of slopes and modern lifts that climb from Andalo and Fai della Paganella, is one of the most popular in Trentino, appreciated by families and good skiers for its varied slopes, which descend from the summit through woods, always with the Brenta Dolomites in front of the skier. It is also known for its ski schools and its snowparks. In summer, the lifts take hikers and mountain bikers to the summit, from where paths and trails descend towards the Brenta and the plateau, and in Andalo the Life Park, with a lake, sports facilities, a wellness centre and an adventure park, is ideal for families. The plateau is surrounded by forests and dotted with small villages and huts, and in summer and winter it offers a wide range of outdoor activities, from paragliding to climbing.
Tip: go up to the summit on a clear morning for the best view; the sunset from the top in summer is also spectacular.
