Beaches, Fellini and Roman bridges
Rimini is the capital of the Italian Riviera on the Adriatic, with 15 km of sandy beaches, but behind the seafront lies a Roman and Renaissance city that many visitors never discover. It is also the hometown of Federico Fellini.
What to see
The Arch of Augustus and the Bridge of Tiberius, still in use after 2,000 years, mark the start of the Via Flaminia and the Via Emilia. The Tempio Malatestiano, redesigned by Leon Battista Alberti, is a Renaissance masterpiece. The Domus del Chirurgo shows the house of a Roman surgeon with mosaics and instruments. Castel Sismondo hosts the Fellini Museum, and the old fishermen's quarter of San Giuliano is full of murals inspired by his films.
Food
Piadina with squacquerone and rocket, grilled fish, brodetto, strozzapreti and Sangiovese di Romagna.
